Toppenish School District Announces Interim Principal of Valley View Elementary

We are excited to announce Mrs. Pettijohn as Interim Principal of Valley View Elementary for the 2026–27 school year!

Mrs. Pettijohn is a familiar face to our Valley View students, staff and families, having proudly served as the school’s Assistant Principal for the past five years. We are excited for her to continue her leadership at Valley View in this new role.

Mrs. Pettijohn has dedicated the past 14 years to serving students in the Toppenish School District. She began her career as a second-grade teacher before moving to fifth grade and later serving as an Instructional Coach. Her experience as both an educator and administrator has shaped her commitment to strong relationships, high expectations and creating an environment where every student can thrive.

“I am honored to continue serving the students, staff, and families of Valley View Elementary as Principal. Throughout my career, I have believed that strong relationships and high expectations go hand in hand. I am committed to supporting high-quality instruction, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

As I step into this new role, I look forward to continuing to partner with our students, staff, and families as we build upon Valley View’s strong foundation and help every Wildcat learn, grow, and succeed. I am excited for all that we will accomplish together.”

The decision to move forward with an interim principal for the coming school year was made thoughtfully, based on feedback gathered during conversations with both staff and families and with strong confidence in Mrs. Pettijohn’s leadership. At the end of the school year, the position will be reopened to all highly qualified applicants, including Mrs. Pettijohn, for consideration for the ongoing role.
