On February 6, students and staff across the district participated in a Blue Friday spirit day in honor of the Seahawks appearing in the Super Bowl!

Salmon Cycles & Smiles

In celebration of American Indian Heritage Month this November, Dr. Ceja visited 1st graders at all four elementary schools to explore the salmon life cycle and the different types of salmon important to the Yakama Nation. The activity ended in smiles, a group photo, and a special visit from the Wildcat mascot!

In February 2026, our THS Cheer Squad advanced to the State Cheerleading Competition where they took 2nd Place in the 2A Small School Game Day category.

On January 28, students, staff, families and community members from across Toppenish came to support students participating in our "Pink Out" themed Unified Basketball game. Unified Sports encourage a team that is composed of special education and general education students. The night wasn't just about basketball, it was about love, belonging, and inclusion.

Welcome Anastasia Sanchez!

On Monday, December 15, 2025, we proudly welcomed our newest Toppenish School Board Member for Director District No. 2, Anastasia Sanchez, as she was officially sworn in! Anastasia has served the Toppenish community in many ways over the years, as a parent, teacher, assistant principal, principal, Toppenish School District Federal & State Program Director, and director of our Toppenish Early Learning Center. The crowd showed their excitement with lots of cheers; some even waved mini Sanchez faces!

We'll Jump Through Any Hoop To Reach Students

This December, internationally famed hoop dancer, Eric Michael Hernandez, visited both TMS and THS for an inspiring presentation of his art and message... to believe in yourself, take risks, and always put in the effort. What an incredible opportunity for our students and staff!

Full STEAM Ahead at Garfield

Garfield Elementary’s Fall STEAM Family Night was a celebration of learning, creativity, and connection! Families filled the cafeteria for an evening of hands-on exploration and festive fun. Students became marshmallow tower architects, decorated turkey cookies, experimented with watercolor painting, and dove into a variety of exciting STEAM-inspired activities that brought science, art, and imagination to life.

Clean Energy. Cost Savings!

In October 2025, we were proud to host members of the Washington State Senate Energy, Environment, and Technology Committee to learn about how our district is saving money and protecting the environment by making clean energy improvements, including the Solar+ Battery project at Valley View Elementary.

Middle School Leaders

In October 2025, Toppenish Middle School Leadership hosted nearly 250 student leaders from across our region for the AWSL (Association of Washington Student Leadership) Student Conference. Together, they discussed common challenges, shared ideas, and collaborated to find ways to improve school culture and the overall student experience in their school communities.

Experiencing Tribal Lands

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, our school and district leaders visited the Yakama Nation Aviary & Bison Range to learn about local Native culture, food and customs.

Grab A Partner

Research shows that partner reading and daily read-aloud story time are essential to a child's development. Our schools are prioritizing partner reading to increase literacy rates!

Orange Shirt Day

On September 30, 2025, the district recognized Orange Shirt Day, a day dedicated to honoring the survivors of residential schools, remembering those who never returned home, and reaffirming our commitment to truth and reconciliation.

Trick or Treat, Take A Tool To Help You Teach!

After a full week of conferences this October, it was inspiring to see so many Toppenish educators come together on Halloween to learn, collaborate, and continue growing their skills during our Fall Optional Day. It was a full day of collaboration, reflection, and new strategies with sessions offered in everything from ELD frameworks and i-Ready to behavior supports, autism awareness, coaching, and more.

In December 2025, CATS High students participated in Hour of A.I. From designing Minecraft-inspired video games to creating DJ-style music mixes, classrooms explored AI in creative and hands-on ways

Welcome to Toppenish School District 202, proudly serving the communities of Toppenish and Buena in south central Washington on the lands of the Yakama Nation. Established in 1944, our district serves more than 3,500 students from PreK through grade 12, supported by over 200 passionate educators and staff members. We believe that every child deserves opportunity, belonging, and high-quality learning experiences. That is why we are #ALLIN for kids.
