POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

SUBSTITUTE

SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONALS

$11.38 PER HOUR

(HOURS WORKED WILL BE ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS)

ASSIGNMENT: Assist students in a resource special education classroom individually and in small groups. Assignments may require working with students one-on-one. Duties may include assisting with toileting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent and two years of study at an institution of higher education or an Associate’s Degree (or higher) or completion and *passage of a state or local academic assessment.

• Substitutes are required to pass a Washington State Patrol and FBI background check before given an

assignment. The background check fee is to be paid for by the applicant.

• Ability to lift children weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Desire and ability to work in a variety of educational settings.

• Willingness to assist students with personal hygiene/daily living skills.

• Good speaking, reading, writing, spelling, and math skills.

• Must have a reliable telephone or cell number.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
