Introducing Dr. Toron Wooldridge, Toppenish School District’s New Superintendent

We are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Toron Wooldridge, who will serve as the new Superintendent for Toppenish School District. After an extensive search and rigorous selection process, Dr. Toron "Doc" Wooldridge emerged as the clear choice due to his exceptional leadership qualities, dedication to education, and proven track record of success.

With 19 years of innovative experience in the development and oversight of academic programs, policies, and initiatives to promote student growth and achievement, Dr. Wooldridge brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. His visionary leadership style, coupled with a commitment to building consensus among teams and students to promote transparency and support student growth, aligns perfectly with the values and goals of our school district.

In his most recent role as the Executive Director of Secondary Schools at Austin Independent School District, Dr. Wooldridge oversaw nine high schools with a student population of 11,760. His leadership is characterized by his ability to tackle challenges head-on, fostering a culture of resilience and continuous improvement. He is widely recognized for his transformative approach, which involves working collaboratively with communities, parents, and school administrators to develop and implement successful strategies for student achievement.

During a public meeting with the Toppenish School Board and community members, Dr. Wooldridge emphasized the importance of building trust and partnerships. “My goal moving forward as a leader is to collaborate with y’all and make sure that we put forth initiatives that are going to make you proud to have a partnership with us.”

Interim Superintendent John Schieche will help bring the 2023-24 school year to a close and, following the conclusion of his responsibilities in Austin, Dr. Wooldridge is expected to start work in Toppenish on July 1st.
