Spotlight: Career and Technical Education
As we navigate the academic year, we have some noteworthy updates and events from our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that we're eager to share with you. From agricultural accolades to college and career center initiatives, Toppenish School District is buzzing with activities aimed at preparing our students for successful futures.
Agriculture Triumphs at the Fair
Our Agriculture program made us proud by securing the third position at this year’s fair for their captivating booth. This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and instructors. It highlights the passion and commitment that drive our CTE programs.
STEM Takes the Spotlight
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is at the forefront of our curriculum, and we were delighted to have 80 students from both our middle school and high school represent us at the fair. This not only showcases our students' enthusiasm for STEM but also highlights the emphasis we place on equipping them with the skills needed in today's technologically driven world.
FAFSA: A Key to Financial Aid
A critical reminder for our students and their families: FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) applications will kick off in early December. This is a vital step in securing financial support for higher education. We urge all eligible students to take advantage of this opportunity.
College and Career Center Parent Night
In October, we hosted a Parent Night at our College and Career Center. This event was designed to help parents and guardians better understand the resources and opportunities available to their children. It was a fantastic opportunity to foster a collaborative spirit between families and our educational community.
Navigating College Applications and Scholarships
Our College and Career Center has been working diligently with our students to complete college applications, including the Common App, and to explore scholarship opportunities. We are proud to have numerous partners supporting this crucial endeavor, including a financial literacy grant. We're committed to ensuring that our students have the tools they need to pursue higher education without financial barriers.
Diverse Opportunities: Clubs, CTSOs, and More
Toppenish School District's CTE program is not limited to the classroom. We offer numerous clubs, Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), Industry Recognized Credentials (IRCs), and dual credit options that bridge the gap between college and high school. These experiences provide a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in various fields.
Graduation Pathways and CTE Pathways
Our CTE program plays a pivotal role in graduation pathways. We are dedicated to guiding our students through CTE pathways that align with their interests and career goals. This ensures that they graduate with both academic knowledge and practical skills that set them up for success.
Important Testing Dates: SAT/ACT
Lastly, please mark your calendars for the upcoming SAT and ACT testing dates. These standardized tests are essential for college admissions, and we encourage our students to prepare diligently.
As we journey through the school year, our commitment to providing students with a well-rounded and comprehensive education remains unwavering. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to witnessing the achievements of our talented students.
Thank you for your continued support of Toppenish School District's CTE program. Together, we are preparing our students for bright and promising futures.
