POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

AFTER SCHOOL TUTOR

INDIAN EDUCATION

FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR ONLY

OPEN TO IN-DISTRICT STAFF ONLY

LOCATION:  LINCOLN ONE DAY AND KIRKWOOD ONE DAY

TEMPORARY/EXTRA DUTY POSITION ON TIMESHEET

APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS PER DAY – TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS

ASSIGNMENT:  Employee will provide tutoring to students in Yakama culture, arts and tradition, language arts, and math. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or recognized equivalent and two years of study at an institution of higher education or an Associate’s Degree (or higher) or completion and passage of a state or local academic assessment.  Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members.
• Must possess knowledge and experience with Yakama culture and traditions.
• Desire and ability to receive training.
• Good speaking, reading, writing, spelling and math skills.
• Must possess skills necessary to build rapport with students and families from Native American/Indian linguistic backgrounds.
