Toppenish School District Talented and Gifted Program (TAG):
The District offers a program for the academically gifted and talented as well as highly capable students in the third through eighth grade. This program provides students in our elementary buildings and middle school the opportunities to extend their learning in the Arts, Math, or Science. Students qualify for the program through several means: students that pass the Measure of Student Progress (MSP) in the areas of Math, Reading and Writing (4th, and 7th grade), recommendations of teachers and parents, and qualify by a placement test which test students' ability to think logically and at higher levels. TAG students at the high school level are served through advanced placement classes. They also participate in the high school Knowledge Bowl and study Shakespeare to attend the Shakespearian Festival in Ashland, Oregon.
If you are interested in nominating a third-eighth grade student for TAG testing, please complete the nomination form located at your child's school office or call Dawn Weddle at 865-2730. We will be enrolling students for the TAG program through February. If you would like more information about the advance placement classes, the Knowledge Bowl or the Shakespearian Festival, please call the high school at 865-3370.
